We Love Philly: Urban Sketchers

March 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

St. Peter’s “We Love Philly” group connects people with each other around fun things to do in Philly. In March, we invite you to join the monthly gathering of Urban Sketchers. The Philadelphia chapter of his worldwide group meets the second Saturday of each month at some picturesque spot for independent sketching (bring your own materials: paper, pen/ink, charcoal, or watercolor).

On March 14, the chosen location will be Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church at 916 S. Swanson Street. The group will gather from 10 a.m. to noon, then meet at noon in front of the church to share sketches and admire each other’s work. Optional lunch afterward at a nearby restaurant.

Whenever and wherever you start, you don’t need to check in with anyone, just find a suitable spot and start sketching. And please say hello and introduce yourself to other sketchers you see. No previous experience or talent is required. Participants have a wide range of ability; these are not “lessons” and there is no critiquing.

St. Peter’s parishioner Carolyn Klepser tells us that this is a great way to discover new parts of Philadelphia and to meet new people. Please email our Parish Administrator Kate Randall to let her know you plan to join in for the March event, and Kate will connect you with Carolyn Klepser.
