CHURCHYARD

All are welcome to visit and enjoy St. Peter’s historic churchyard at Fourth and Pine Streets, a peaceful green oasis in the city and resting place for notable Philadelphians. We ask that you are respectful of this sacred space; please keep your dogs on a leash and clean up after yourself. For your own safety and the integrity of our historic site, do not climb, lean against, or sit on the gravestones.

St. Peter’s churchyard is usually open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., often until 7 p.m. in the summer months. We rely on volunteers to open and close the churchyard gates, so hours can vary.

We encourage you to take an audio tour of the churchyard. The tour is accessible by phone at 215-554-6161. The tour is free, except for any charges from your cell phone company.

Volunteer to help!

Volunteers are needed to help prune seasonal plants, remove ivy, plant annuals, rake leaves, and general upkeep of the garden and grounds. No experience is necessary—our gardening group is a welcoming bunch! The group meets from March through November, generally once a month on Saturday mornings. To receive more information about joining our volunteer gardeners, fill out this online form or contact Parish Administrator Kate Randall at [email protected] or 215-925-5968.
