LGBTQ+
As a welcoming church, St. Peter’s is blessed to have gay and lesbian parishioners, staff, and clergy. St. Peter’s is an affirming and inclusive community comprised of the young and the old, married, partnered and single, gay and straight. We represent and celebrate the wonderful diversity of our city and include a place for everyone around God’s table.
St. Peter’s shows its support and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community by participating in the Philadelphia Pride Festival in June and OURfest in October, sponsoring a table with other local Episcopal churches. During Pride Month each year, we welcome Balena Canto to a worship service for a Drag Queen Story Hour. St. Peter’s honors God’s call to justice and welcome by supporting diverse families, offering inclusive role models, and nurturing a warm, joyful space where everyone is invited to belong.
St. Peter’s has an active LGBTQ+ Fellowship Group that meets frequently on Sunday mornings, and hosts monthly Unity Dinners for gender diverse individuals (including transgender, non-binary, and gender-expensive) to make friends and be in community.
St. Peter’s clergy is happy to officiate same-sex marriages at the church. Click here for information about having your wedding at St. Peter’s.
For decades, LGBTQ+ Episcopalians and allies have worked to make The Episcopal Church a place of belonging and inclusion. In 2026, The Episcopal Church will celebrate the 50th anniversary of our church affirming that LGBTQ+ people have a full and equal claim to the love, acceptance, and pastoral care of the church.
