Celebration of New Ministry

The Wardens and Vestry of St. Peter’s Church invite your prayers and presence at The Celebration of a New Ministry at 10 AM Saturday, January 10. We will officially welcome the Rev. Laurie Wurm as the 22nd Rector of St. Peter’s Church.

The Rt. Reverend Daniel G. P. Gutiérrez, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, will preside and Dr. Brandyn Heppard, Assistant Professor at PACE University, will preach. The ceremony will be held at St. Peter’s Church, at Third & Pine Streets. Reception to follow at Old St. Paul’s Church (former offices of Episcopal Community Services) at 225 S. Third Street.

What is a Celebration of New Ministry?
A Celebration of New MInistry is a formal institution or induction of a priest as the rector of a parish. The eucharistic service is led by the bishop and includes an induction ceremony when the bishop, parish representatives, and diocesan clergy present the priest with symbolic gifts, such as a Bible for proclaiming the Word, vessel of water for baptizing, a stole, book of prayers, oil for healing and reconciliation, keys to the church, and more.
