The First Station – Jesus Is Condemned to Death

The Isle de Jean Charles Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Tribe is displaced by climate change

The Isle de Jean Charles Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Tribe is quickly losing their island home in south Louisiana due to coastal erosion and the resulting rising waters. Every year coastal Louisiana loses landmass the size of Manhattan. Oil and gas production in south Louisiana has irreparably damaged Indigenous land.

Included in the station are drawings of the Catholic Indian community at Isle de Jean as well as a map of the forced relocation of Indigenous people during the 19th century.

O God, mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace.
