by Lauri Cielo
During the Parish Annual Meeting on January 29, St. Peter’s parishioners will elect two new members to the Vestry. The nominees are Christy Santos and Sharon Haynie.
Sharon, a lifelong Episcopalian, has been a member of St. Peter’s for more than 10 years. In previous parishes, Sharon has served as assistant Sunday school superintendent, Lay Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Vestry. She has also been a member of small group parish- and diocesan-communities engaged in theological reflection: Education for Ministry and Disciples of Christ in Community. At St. Peter’s, Sharon is a member of the Adult Education Committee and she looks forward to contributing to the newly formed Refugee Resettlement Committee. Sharon claims science & engineering research as her professional calling; she remains active in several science outreach and leadership roles.
Christina (Christy) Santos joined St. Peter’s in 2013. She immediately became an active member of TNT (Twenties and Thirties) activities and coordinated TNT activities for one year. Christy has served as a greeter and currently serves on the altar guild. Christy has participated in several educational opportunities at St. Peter’s including The Episcopal Way and Discipleship in Community. Professionally, Christy is the Director of the Charles Ellis Trust, administered by Philadelphia Futures, a non-profit college access and success organization.
