Sing Philadelphia Summer Camp

The 2020 SING Philadelphia camp has been canceled. We look forward to bringing the camp back in 2021. If your child would like to sing, we encourage you to consider our Chorister Academy program, an after-school choir program held at the church. The next season of Chorister Academy begins in September 2020.

SING Philadelphia is a week-long summer choir camp for boys and girls entering 2nd – 6th grade. The camp will be held this year from June 15-19, 2020.

The camp, held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at Third and Pine Streets, provides an exceptional musical experience for children and youth who love to sing. Under instruction of Director Dr. Darryl Roland, campers learn classical repertoire with special attention to breathing techniques, vowel formation and choral tone, sight singing, and music theory. The week’s curriculum also exposes children to drama and art, teaches students to work as a team, and builds confidence and leadership skills.

The SING Philadelphia Camp seeks to serve children in our local neighborhood, specifically those children who live within walking distance or attend Nebinger Elementary School, Independence Charter School, McCall Elementary School, Meredith Elementary School, St. Mary’s Interparochial School, and St. Peter’s School. Children who have a strong interest in our year-long Chorister Academy program, are also encouraged to apply.

Camp tuition is $325. However, there is a sliding scale tuition (ranges from no cost to $325) to ensure children have equitable access to SING Philadelphia, regardless of financial resources. We can also provide lunch to campers by request.

Camp runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. every day, with morning care included starting at 8 a.m. There is also afternoon (4-5:30 p.m.) extended care available at an extra cost of $40/week. There will be no after-care on Friday, June 19.

Grouped by age, the campers receive musical instruction twice each day, as well as daily drama and art classes led by experienced teachers. On the afternoon of the final day of camp, families and friends are invited to attend the SING Philadelphia Showcase, featuring a choral concert and an art exhibit. Students who attend SING Philadelphia will be invited to participate in the St. Peter’s Chorister Academy, a prestigious after-school music education and performance program.
