Greetings in the name of Christ. On this December day, we in the church are observing the season of Advent – a time of preparation for the birth in our lives of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
In this season we gather at St. Peter’s to share a story – in word and song and prayer.
It is a story about love: God’s love for God’s creation, for every creature that God has made; God’s love for each and every one of us.
It is a story about events from long ago, and at the same time is a story that stirs the imagination of our hearts even in the present age.
It is a story our souls long to hear, time and again, for the love God pours out for us embraces us and shapes our lives anew.
It is my delight to invite you to join us at St. Peter’s. St. Peter’s is a lively community of faith engaged in many ministries – of worship and music-making, caring for those in need, striving to be agents of justice and peace, nurturing children, serving our community.
At the heart of our life together at St. Peter’s is the Story of God’s love. As the Spirit moves you, I invite you to join us in worship or in ministry: in this season of Advent and Christmas, and in all the seasons and events of your life.
Please celebrate Christmas with us:
At 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, we offer the candlelight service of nine lessons and carols, with anthems, psaltery and song with the 65 members of our choirs. On Christmas Eve, join us at 5 p.m. for a marvelous Christmas pageant and Holy Eucharist: it is an exuberant celebration with lots and lots of children. There’s plenty of room in our manger for last minute angels and sheep. Or join us at 9:30 p.m. for a festive candlelight celebration of the Nativity of our Lord – with sermon, Holy Eucharist, choirs and brass.
At 11 a.m. on Christmas day we celebrate a simple joyous service with sermon, Holy Eucharist, and hymns.
