DESCRIPTION:Preaching the Gospel to the Ends of the Earth: The Acts of the Apostles \nActs of the Apostles is a continuation of the record begun in the Gospel of Luke. It begins with the disciples asking Jesus when he will restore the Kingdom of Israel.  Jesus responds that it’s none of their business\, but that the Holy Spirit will give them power to go be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)  With astonishing\, terrible and beautiful stories\, the rest of the book of Acts describes just how the disciples carry out that extraordinary task. \nPentecost is the official birthday of the church.  This Pentecost season\, join Rev. Laurie to reflect on what the first disciples have to share with us about being “the church”  in a world so desperately in need of Good News. \nAll are welcome. SUMMARY:Concerts in the Churchyard
DESCRIPTION:Music is coming to the churchyard this summer\, at our annual summer concert series. All are invited to join us for snacks\, live music\, and good company. These are free\, community concerts\, so invite your friends and neighbors to come along! Bring a chair\, picnic blanket\, your kids\, your dog\, and enjoy the summer night in our beautiful churchyard. \nSt. Peter’s will provide a free treat at all the concerts\, and invite you to bring a picnic dinner. \nConcert schedule: \n\nWednesday\, June 24: The Phillip Bennett Band is led by singer-songwriter (and St. Peter’s parishioner) Phillip Bennett. This Philadelphia-based folk band plays songs that cover a range of topics\, including the experience of love\, loss\, celebration\, spiritual growth.\nTuesday\, June 30: Poor Man’s Gambit is a Philadelphia-area Irish band\, featuring fiddle\, button accordion\, guitar\, and other traditional Irish instruments.\nTuesday\, July 14: The Jazz Sanctuary’s Alan Segal Jazz Quintet features fine musicians who have been performing in the tri-state area for many years\, playing the music they love – American Jazz in all its glory.
