SUMMARY:Family Worship Service
DESCRIPTION:Although St. Peter’s welcomes children at all times\, a special service for young children and their families takes place at 9 a.m. every Sunday during the school year. This service nurtures children’s spiritual formation and growth through singing\, stories\, crafts\, and communion. It is a playful\, energetic service\, led each week by a member of the clergy and our Children’s Ministry Leader on guitar. This is a long-standing service at St. Peter’s\, often attracting 30-40 attendees each week. The Family Worship service is held at 9 a.m. in the Parish House at 313 Pine Street. \nIf you’d like to be added to our email list to receive notices about Family Worship\, please sign up for our email newsletter here or contact Associate Rector Rev. Sarah Hedgis-Kligerman at hedgis-kligerman@stpetersphila.org.

SUMMARY:Education for Ministry
DESCRIPTION:Many people have been taught that one must be ordained to be a minister\, but our vows at baptism say something different: that all baptized Christians are ministers. We are called to be the hands\, heart\, and incarnate body of Christ in our own place through worship\, reflection\, service to others\, and by the proclamation of God’s Word to all people. \nThe Education for Ministry program is designed to help Christians prepare for their ministry. The program is offered through the School of Theology at the University of the South. It is a mentor-led program of Old Testament\, New Testament\, church history\, and philosophical study and reflection. All of these topics are navigated and explored through the lives and spiritual reflection of the members of the group navigating the space together. \nTess Farmer from Christ Church graduated from this program in 2008\, and it was one of the most formative spiritual experiences she has ever lived. The program built an incredible community and fundamentally altered the way she experienced scripture\, community\, and the work we are all given to do. \nChrist Church and St. Peter’s plan to launch this program in cooperation with each other\, and invite you to learn more about Education for Ministry on May 17. Tess will be with us to introduce the program and answer your questions! If you are interested in learning more about this program\, please join us!

SUMMARY:Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:In his book “The Resurrection of Jesus\,” author Pinchas Lapide asks\, “How was it possible that his (Jesus’) disciples\, who by no means excelled in intelligence\, eloquence\, or strength of faith\, were able to begin their victorious march of conversion only after the shattering fiasco on Golgotha—a march which put all their success before Easter completely into the shadow?…. The answer of the apostles was brief and unambiguous: the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.” \nDuring Eastertide\, the 50 days between Easter and Pentecost\, join St. Peter’s for Wednesday morning Bible study as we read what the Gospels have to say about the resurrected Jesus’ appearances to his followers which turned their doubt into belief\, their mourning into dancing\, and gave them a joy that nothing in the world could take away. \nAll are welcome. You do not need to do anything to prepare. Come as you are. This Morning Bible Study is on Zoom only\, not in-person! SUMMARY:Dying & Rising with Christ: The Baptismal Covenant
DESCRIPTION:Baptism doesn’t have anything to do with washing away original sin and God loves all babies\, baptized and unbaptized! As a sacrament\, baptism is the outward\, visible sign of the inward\, invisible grace that God’s first and last words about you are these: “This is my beloved\, in whom I am well pleased.” \nPlease join Rev. Laurie on May 24 to reflect on the baptismal covenant and how claiming it as the center of our lives sets us free to love and be loved in costly\, life giving ways.

Join on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84073270479?pwd=r9Ur0NRyDxbmb0sPk0ykauzq9BTva2.1Meeting ID: 840 7327 0479; Passcode: 517297
