SUMMARY:"We Believe...?" Lenten Study & Supper Group
DESCRIPTION:“We Believe…?” Lenten Study & Supper Group\n6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings February 25 through March 18\nAt St. Peter’s Church & Christ Church: Click here to register \nThis Lent\, join folks from St. Peter’s and Christ Church for a thoughtful\, honest\, and welcoming evening Adult Forum exploring one of the most familiar (and often most puzzling) parts of our worship: the Nicene Creed. Over four Wednesday evenings\, we’ll ask real questions together: Why do we say the Creed? What’s hard about it? What’s life-giving? What do you believe? \nWhether you love the Creed\, struggle with it\, or aren’t sure why it matters at all\, your questions are not only welcomed—they’re essential. Each session includes dinner\, teaching\, and conversation\, moving from history and close reading to reflection and creativity\, and concluding with the chance to write your own creed in community. Come curious\, come skeptical\, come hungry—for food\, for community\, and for meaning. \nFor the program at Christ Church on February 25 & March 4:\n• Sessions will take place on the third floor of Christ Church Neighborhood House\, located at 20 N. American Street.\n• Parking is available for Christ Church on American Street. You can get a parking pass at the front desk of the Neighborhood House. There will also be a few spots in the parking lot at the end of Filbert. \nFor the program at St. Peter’s on March 11 & 18:\n• Sessions will take place in the parlor of the Parish House at 313 Pine Street.\n• Parking is available for St. Peter’s at the parking lot off Lombard Street\, just past the intersection with Third Street. Some spots might be available along Pine Street opposite the Parish House at 313 Pine. \nPlease click here to fill out a registration form if you plan to participate\, so we can plan to have enough supper for all. You do not have to attend all four sessions. \n

SUMMARY:And Also Some Women
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Women in the History of St. Peter’s\, Known and Unknown \nJoin author Cordelia Biddle and historian Mike Krasulski for a two-part series exploring the rich history of women at St. Peter’s. Learn about historical women who started St. Peter’s vital outreach efforts…up to the more-recent history of our first female rector’s warden and first female priest of a major Center City church. We will also reflect on the truth that there is still a lot of information we do not have about the many amazing women who have been a part of this church since 1761. Join us for a time of learning and group discussion!

SUMMARY:Repairers of the Breach
DESCRIPTION:We will gather in the parlor after coffee hour on Sunday. There will be sandwiches and salad provided for lunch. You can grab lunch whenever you arrive\, and the workshop itself will begin at 1 p.m. \nOur country is at a hinge moment that calls for people of faith to stand up against all sinful systems of oppression and violence.  Many members of St. Peter’s are deeply engaged in this work. St. Peter’s Repairers of the Breach Workshops will feature lay ministers who will share what they are doing to confront the political  powers that diminish\, violate\, and threaten the lives of our neighbors. \nThis two-part workshop will feature parishioner Beverly Woods\, who has spent a career in both community-based organizations and municipal government. Recent examples of her projects include stabilizing communities after building collapses and utility failures; community-based COVID-19 vaccination programs; heat injury prevention programs; high quality shelter spaces for homeless families; and business development interventions to preserve services in neighborhoods. Retired in December 2024\, Beverly has pivoted to providing the same skills\, expertise\, and access to the organizations for which she volunteers\, which include Reinvestment Fund; Philly Bridge and Jawn (PB&J)\, a nascent youth- serving organization in Philadelphia’s Kensington community; Mission First Housing Group; Northern Children’s Services; and the Powelton Village Civic Association\, where she lives. \nClergy will provide Biblical and theological context\, giving participants the opportunity to discuss how the work being done is discipleship in practice.

SUMMARY:Women's Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Join other women at St. Peter’s for a retreat focused on women’s history at St. Peter’s as well as our own history. Each participant is invited to think of a woman who inspires them. This can be someone you know personally or not. Someone who is living or a part of the communion of saints. Bring with you her story\, a picture of the person\, and a special item you connect with her. Our retreat will include group discussion\, a sharing of these sacred women who inspire us\, and time to just be together. Please register so we can plan our time (and snacks!) accordingly. \nClick here to register

SUMMARY:Virtual Way of the Cross
DESCRIPTION:On the cross Jesus said: “My God\, My God\, Why have you forsaken me?” as if to say “Why is it like this?” He was one who was not separate from our own suffering. \nMany of us feel the weight of anxiety and fear as we journey through the current world. During this season of Lent\, we look to the life and teachings of Jesus. We have hung stations of the cross along our brick wall on Pine Street\, where we pair the traditional story of Jesus’ crucifixion with contemporary issues and images\, showing struggle\, resilience\, and hope. \nWe will gather on Zoom this Wednesday evening to pray these stations together with Rev. Laurie\, and invite you into that conversation and prayer. You can view the stations online here. \nJoin us on Zoom: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/85002518007?pwd=gjH3NfiynVAYlnHZOHADmRgsW1etUy.1Meeting ID: 850 0251 8007; Passcode: 717275 \n
