This Lent, join Rev. Sean in reading James Cone’s important book, “The Cross and the Lynching Tree,” which explores the intersection of African American history and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, with a particular focus on the practice of lynching. As we traverse this complex spiritual terrain, we will also work to construct our own theologies of the Cross and make sense of the Lenten journey. Please sign up by emailing Rev. Sean at [email protected]. Signing up is a commitment to completing the reading assignments, to missing no more than one of our four sessions together, and to actively participating in our group conversations. Copies of the book are available online or at Head House Books.
The Reading Group will gather on Tuesday evenings, March 12 & 26 and April 2 & 9.
