Exploring the Research: Sexual Abuse by Clergy in the Roman Catholic Church

This presentation will review the results of a study commissioned by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on the phenomenon of clerical sexual abuse. This report has been greeted with mixed response by many. Both the findings and the limitations of the report will be discussed, along with commentary on the current status of this critical issue. Presented by Julian Slowinski, a St. Peter’s parishioner and clinical psychologist (formerly in practice at Pennsylvania Hospital) who has served as a consultant on clerical sexual misconduct with bishops of both the Episcopal and Roman Catholic Churches.
