June 20 @ 10:00 am - 10:50 am
On June 6 & 13, join us for “Bible 101” — The Bible is the foundational text for Christianity, yet for many of us it is mysterious. On June 6 we will take a brief but close look at the Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures/Testament Classic. Who wrote it? When? Why? How did it take its form? On June 13 we will do the same with the New Testament.
On June 20, we will explore “The Good News of Jesus Christ the way Mark tells it” — Long looked down on as being written in “crude Greek” and not as lengthy as the other Gospels, Mark’s Gospel is actually living proof that quantity does not equal quality. His telling of the story moves with an urgency that the other Gospels lack, pulls the reader in as a participant, and, as literature, is brilliantly crafted. So what was Mark up to in his telling? Why is it so spare? What did he hope to accomplish? For 2 weeks we will spend time with Mark getting to know him and the Jesus he presents.
