The Christian Praxis of Love and our New Humanity in Christ

The Rev. Sean Lanigan

This Lent, join Rev. Sean and Rev. Claire in an exploration of important themes in Christian theology and discover how growing in theological understanding can deepen your lived faith experience.

On March 11 and 18, Sean will explore Christian perspectives on how sin is overcome. What do we do about the reality of sin? A common response throughout human history has been to develop systems of morality and ethics: codifications of what it takes to live a good life. A main feature of living a good life in many ethical systems is commitment to the practice of love. And while most of us think we know what love is, Christian love is quite distinctive, and it can take us to some unexpected and even frightening places. We’ll investigate the complex terrain of Christian love, while asking what love has to do with theological accounts of salvation.

[email protected] is the adult education hour on Sunday mornings at St. Peter’s. We try to offer a wide range of programming to engage your mind and your spirit, and we hope you’ll join us as often as you’re able.
