Choral Evensong has a rich tradition dating back to the 16th century and has broadened into an art form that appeals to people of any spiritual persuasion in the 21st century. The sheer beauty of the music is well known and provides the listener with an opportunity for respite and renewal.
In keeping with historic practice, Saint Peter’s Choir includes boys and girls who are trained at the church’s Chorister Academy to sing on a professional level with adults. The origins of intergenerational choirs can be traced to the Middle Ages when European choir schools trained boys to sing in cathedral choirs of men and boys. This venerable tradition continues to thrive today at Saint Peter’s Church to create a unique and beautiful choral sound.
